Amarnath Yatra resumes after 4 days

The revered Amarnath Yatra, which was suspended for 3 days due to the growing unrest in the Kashmir valley, has been resumed. The devotees stranded in Jammu have been escorted towards Baltal base camp amidst tight security. Moreover, close to 25,000 pilgrims stranded at Baltal and Pahalgam in the Kashmir valley travelled back home on Monday.

Officials have said that they will review the situation before dispatching the next batch on Tuesday. The valley witnessed violent protests following the death of Hizbul Mujahedeen terrorist Burhan Wani in a gun battle with security forces on Friday. A curfew was imposed on several regions of Anantnag, Pulwama and Srinagar in order to control the situation.
