First batch of Pilgrims leave for Amarnath

The first batch of 1,138 pilgrims to the revered Amarnath Yatra has left Jammu towards Pahalgam and Baltal on Friday morning. This 48-day pilgrimage will witness devotees for various places in the country partake in this arduous pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Lord Shiva.

Security arrangements have been increased to ensure a safe and peaceful journey to the pilgrims. The Central Government has assigned additional para military forces in the region, apart from the already vigilant Indian Army that is taking care of the high altitude region on the pilgrimage route.

To access the security bandobast, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will arrive in the state on a two-day visit.
