Muslim community offer pilgrim services at Amarnath Yatra

As over 12,000 pilgrims start their arduous Amarnath pilgrimage, more than 20,000 Muslim workers including 7,000 pony owners joined the pilgrimage to offer services enroute. Many of the workers offered pony and palanquin services, especially to the aged pilgrims. Hundreds of Muslim workers have registered themselves and their ponies to offer services during the 45-day Yatra.

Around 20,000 security men have been deployed on the routes of Pahalgam and Baltal including combing operations in nearby forests. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh reached the cave, located at the height of 12,756 feet, by helicopter in the morning. He expressed his satisfaction with the security arrangements that have been chalked out for the pilgrimage.
