Security tightened for Amarnath Yatra following Pampore attack

In the wake of deadly Pampore attack that saw 2 terrorists killed and 8 soldiers martyred on June 25, the top security officials have tightened up the security for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra that commences on July 2. Jammu & Kashmir Director General of Police K Rajendera Kumar chaired a meeting with top officials in the afternoon where the security concerns were discussed.

Discussing regarding the security arrangements, The DGP asked to make the traffic arrangements smooth for the pilgrims on National Highway and other routes leading to Holy Cave via Pahalgam and Baltal.

“The frantic attempts by the militants to target security personnel would not discourage us to work for absolute peace in the state,” Kumar said. He added that all the security forces are working collectively to eradicate the menace of terrorism.
